On 15 July, 2005 the United States Department of State opened its Business Visa Center in Washington D.C. On the same day, each US Embassy and Consulate opened their local Business Visa Centers. This service was initiated in order to facilitate immediate travel of legitimate businesspersons to the US to participate in meetings, promotions, etc. For years US Embassies and Consulates have been providing this service through a series of informal, post specific programs. The Business Visa Center was created to ensure each post had a program in place and US companies had a place to turn for assistance in every country in the world. While each post has a Business Visa Center, not every program is the same as each post must serve the needs of its country specific-environment.
At The Business Visa Center at the American Consulate General in Tijuana, we focus on facilitating immediate travel for businesspersons. As many Mexican citizens already enjoy the convenience of Border Crossing Cards we emphasize service to those few who don’t have them or have lost their visa or been the victim of theft. In these cases the US company may request our assistance in issuing a business visa for the purpose of visiting the US companies’ offices in the United States for meetings, conferences etc. The US company will typically request this service if the travel of the Mexican Businessperson is of an “immediate” nature.
We look forward to helping US business expand its presence in the Mexican market and hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely, The Staff of The Business Visa Center at the American Consulate General in Tijuana
